“A Bear’s Blue Lodge” is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom cabin with breathtaking views, beautifully furnished, outdoor wood fire pit (wood not provided), high speed WI-FI, gas fireplace (seasonal), ping pong game table, gas grill, and all paved access. We are situated over 4,200 ft in elevation for those cool summer days. Located just 10-15 minutes to downtown West Jefferson in the Big Tree community. We're sorry, but pets are not permitted.
Main Floor: Enter the cabin with 4 steps up to the deck. As you open the door, you’ll love the open floor plan with warm and cozy atmosphere. The living room is furnished with comfortable couch, chair, recliner, gas fireplace (seasonal), flat screen TV with Roku for streaming your favorite apps. Great and fast wireless internet, too! As you walk through the living room, you’ll find our dining table that seats up to 6 guests. Enjoy your favorite meal while being in awe of the views from the dining table! This is true mountain life.
Near the dining area is our well stocked and modern kitchen with SS appliances, granite counter tops, gas range, microwave, slow cooker and more. We do offer a Keurig maker AND a regular drip coffee maker, the best of both coffee worlds.
Just down the hallway, there is a half bathroom on the main level. The master bedroom offers a king size bed with an En Suite full bathroom with a beautifully tiled and glass enclosed shower. You will also have access to the covered deck. The master bedroom has a flat screen Roku TV.
The upper covered deck has plenty of seating, along with a table and chairs along with rocking chairs to enjoy your morning coffee, snack or dinner. This is a great feature to take in the beauty of Ashe County and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
UPPER LEVEL: The upper level features a loft with a desk and chair for those that may need to do a little work while on vacation. There are 2 bedrooms…one king bed and the other one with a queen bed, each having Roku TV. A full bathroom is also located between the two bedrooms with a tub/shower combo.
LOWER LEVEL: The lower level features a family room with a couch, love seat, flat screen Roku TV, full bathroom with tub/shower combo and the washer and dryer. For additional sleeping, there is a twin size bed as well. For your convenience, there is a full size washer and dryer. You also have access to the lower deck from the family room to get to the fire pit.
Have fun playing ping pong in the game room/garage.
OUTSIDE: Enjoy spending time around our beautiful fire pit (wood not provided), take in that fresh mountain air and listen to the sounds of nature.

LOCATION: “A Blue Bear’s Lodge” is located in a premiere log cabin community called Big Tree with all paved access. The elevation is approximately 4,200’ for those cool summer days. Since we are at a higher elevation, the roads do get slick and snow covered. We strongly recommend a 4x4 and tire chains if it does snow/ice. Our cabin is approximately 15 minutes from downtown West Jefferson, 35 minutes from Boone and 45 minutes from Blowing Rock.
****We have 3 other cabins nearby. One is a 4 bedroom cabin called "Sky High" and this one is within walking distance from our cabin. The cabin next door is called “Appalachian View” (3 BR) and there is a cabin called "Above the Clouds" (3 BR) and this one is approximately two tenths of a mile away. So if you're looking for multiple rentals close to each other, the 3 cabins can accommodate up to 30 guests with these 4 rentals combined.
Important Information: “A Blue Bear’s Lodge” is located in a private community and guests are asked to be respectful of the neighborhood. Sound travels in the mountains, so please be mindful when enjoying our outdoor areas. There is a countywide noise ordinance in place after 10:00 PM.

As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow, and some foggy days with occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. There will be NO refunds, allowances, or date changes resulting from your negligence in this matter.
